Tokyo Westin Hotel Wedding | Dancing the night Away

A beautiful Tokyo Westin Hotel Wedding for a such a wonderful couple.

Ballroom dancing champs they Danced the night away.

”We need a witness to our lives. There’s a billion people on the planet, what does any one life really mean? But in a marriage, you’re promising to care about everything. The good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things, all of it, all of the time, every day. You’re saying ‘Your life will not go unnoticed because I will notice it. Your life will not go unwitnessed because I will be your witness’.” ~ Shall We Dance…

A very special celebration to feature today. A beatuiful wedding at the Tokyo Westin Hotel. A timeless wedding from last October. With the sweetest couple ever. Just so undeniably meant to be.

Mizuho & Kazuya met in dance class. Social dance class. This is “Shall We Dance” in-real-life. Which is why we just had to photograph their Engagement Session in the rehearsal dance studio (post coming soon!!).

Utter soul mates & just a dream for us to be part of their fairytale story. The Westin Wedding Planning team were reluctant to let in freelance photographers at first. They're bound by contracts and commissions. However we photographed AND planned a wedding for a couple whose family have ties to the hotel and they spoke on our behalf. We've planned 3 weddings for this family now. And they were more than happy to help give us a foot in the door.

Why is it important to have a choice of photographer? Basically because it's your day. You want your story told in a unique and authentic way. Many of the large photography companies have had contracts with these venues for 20 years or more. So there's nothing contemporary. Nothing exciting. There's no choice of style. You must have theirs. There's no choice of quality. You must have theirs. There's no choice of just having someone with story experience. There are some amazing photographers in Japan. We know many of them. But it's important ALWAYS for the couple to be able to have a choice.

So we were finally in the door. The wedding commencing in the elegant Westin Tokyo, where we were given time & freedom to document their beautiful day. Thank you Westin for being flexible and helpful! You made this couple's dreams a reality.

Mizuho a vision in her gorgeous lace gown. The Westin staircase just so iconic for portraits. We love it when the couple get ready together, it is always so joyful, tinged with nerves and in this case just so lovely as it was quiet & calm & beautifully romantic. They waltzed through the foyer on route to the Church ceremony, poignant & spiritual, then back to the hotel for an intimate reception, with yes, dancing!!

It was just a joy from start to finish. With a clandestine dance around Ebisu at the end. A perfect fairytale ending (yes, we just had to find a castle) to the beginning of their story. May the dancing never end…
