A Wedding Family Portrait Checklist For Your Photographer

When hiring a professional photographer they won't work from a shotlist of images to get throughout the day. They know what they're doing. Trust them. And a shotlist will inevitably mean they're not following your story. Every wedding photographer will be happy to talk through a couple of images that are a priority for you. However, handing over a shotlist is sure way to lose the uniqueness and authenticity of your day. And to miss moments that would have been 100% uniquely yours. You hire a professional for their experience, and you will have spoken to them in depth before your big day. So trust the process and let your wedding day story unfold naturally.

However, a Family Formals shotlist IS required. Family Formals are a very important part of the wedding day. The longer we're in the wedding industry, the more we realize just how increasing in value these images are. These are the images that are framed by mums and grandmas. These are the images that record generations. These are historical documents. These are the images that generations in the future will be looking at. Not at a ring shot. Or a dress shot. But they'll be looking through images of a gathering that happened generations ago, and it'll be these images that they treasure most.

So while most of your day may be documentary or natural in style and feeling. Make sure you know just how important your family formals will be in the years to come. And make some time for them.

We fully believe in the importance of family and legacy. And a visual history of your family will be absolutely treasured.

Mum or your Aunt or Grandma may want to throw in a couple of combinations themselves on the day! It always happens. Be prepared! Pad a little time.) You'll need to make the Family Formals a priority in the overall photography timeline of your wedding day

Finalizing your family wedding photo list in advance of your big day will ensure that your wedding portraits and family wedding photos go smoothly and, best of all, efficiently.
