Sunbeams Over Japanese Rice Fields

One of the most significant and special views you can find in Japan are rice fields.

Rice has been the staple food in Japan for over 2,000 years and they produce nearly 8,000,000 t of it every year which means consuming 55 kg per person. That's a lot of rice.

So the greatest benefit of being a rice-lovng country is that Japan is gifted with beautiful rice field terraces “Tanada” at several locations throughout the countryside from north to south.

Rice fields surrounded on all sides by glorious mountains, flashed in the sunbeams. Amazing views of the ocean and the rice fields. The best time to see it is definitely sunset time in mid-April to mid May when water is filled up.

Location: Shizuoka, Japan.
